Tested Jio WiFi calling on Samsung Galaxy on7 pro

Yesterday I was at the basement of Supertech Emerald Court in the Grocery Store where I was trying to pay through paytm. The Jio Network was not working and call also did not work through VoLTE. The Grocery Store had Wi-Fi and I requested its password. After connecting to Wi-Fi I could pay through paytm and also call my wife using WiFi calling feature.

I went at site to review progress of missing pink line of Delhi Metro

I had written about Trilokpuri Block 15 on my previous post where there is missing link of Delhi Metro pink line on 13 APR 2019. Subsequently there was news item in July/Aug 2019 that DMRC had allotted flats for resettlement of project affected people and tenders were floated for the construction work by DMRC in Sep 2019. The missing line is supposed to start in Sep 2020.

I am interested in completion of missing pink line since it will connect my neighborhood metro station Mandawali West Vinod Nagar to south Delhi ring road stations.

To day I visited the site to review the progress of work. From Mandawali West Vinod Nagar I went to Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake by metro. Then I started walking towards Trilokpuri Block 15. I found following flats constructed by DMRC just opposite to Trilokpuri Block 15.
I saw many people in most of the Balconies and I asked one fruit vendor outside whether the people have shifted in the flats and he said yes. Then I asked why there is no demolition in Trilokpuri Block 15 and he said that demolition was in progress from Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 end.

I started walking towards Mayur Vihar pocket 1 and found some buildings demolished and work going on. I saw one Mosque behind the demolished building and asked the Supervisor whether the Mosque would be retained. He said yes, the line is going to pass from right side of the mosque.

I walked to Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 station and boarded pink line, changed at next station to blue line and got down at Akshardham.

Trilokpuri Block 15 where Pink Line of Delhi Metro is stuck due to resettlement of residents.

I had started this blog for writing about Google Applications but since there is nothing much to write now I am going to write about issues in Delhi.

Delhi Metro Pink Line was almost complete on 31st Dec 2018 when it started services between Lajpat Nagar and Mayur Vihar Pocket 1. Earlier It had started the services from Shiv Vihar to Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake in Oct 2018.

The stretch between Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 and Trilokpuri could not be completed due to issues of resettlement of residents of Trilokpuri Block 15. See the incomplete line on following map:

Following is the exact Location of Trilokpuri Block 15

Notice on right edge of the rectangle the metro had reached from one side and bottom edge of the rectangle from other side.

The latest news on resettlement of the residents is as follows:

DMRC considering monetary compensation for Trilokpuri residents after DDA refuses ROW

Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 is a terminating Station for trains coming from Majlis Park but Trilokpuri station is not designed as a terminating station. The next terminating station is IP Extension. At present only one out of 3 trains is sent from IP Extension to Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake on single Line and it returns on the same Line. If the frequency of trains at IP Extension is 5 minutes it is 15 minutes at Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake and two intermediate stations East Vinod Nagar and West Vinod Nagar.

Get driving directions on Google maps.

My friends visited us at Bhubaneswar yesterday and since my son-in-law is away on tour I had to take them to Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar by car. I thought why not take Google's help to get driving directions. So I clicked on Maps link on iGoogle then clicked on Get Directions which opened two boxes. I typed "Ramji Tower, Bhubaneswar" in 'A' box (this is our present home address) and "Lingaraj Temple, Bhubaneswar" in 'B' box and clicked on Get Directions and I got the precise map.

I could Zoom in and get the details near the temple area:

We faced only one problem near the temple on the road by the side of the lake "Bindu Sagar". Construction work was going on the road but we could reach the temple.

Autosorting Task List using Google Spreadsheet.

One Google Docs user had asked a question on the Forum regarding auto-sorting a Task List when there is change in status of a Task. I thought that as a user I may also face this problem sometimes.

I created a Spreadsheet with List of Tasks in Column A and the Status of the Task in Column B. Initially I sorted the Data by Column B but when I changed the status of any Task it was not getting sorted automatically.

Then I read the description of SORT command and wrote the following command in cell C2:
=SORT(A2:B21, 2, TRUE)

This created a sorted list in Column C and D. Now If I change the status of any Task in Column B the sorted list got changed automatically.

I have shared this Template on Google Templates Gallery and you can use it too.

Long Survey questionnaires on Google Forms.

Google released a new feature to add page break to create multiple pages on Forms. Now in a long survey questionnaire the respondent could be sent to a particular page depending upon Yes/No or other options in multiple choice question.

Earlier when we created long survey questionnaires it was made only on single page and the respondent was getting nervous looking at it. Moreover, logic branching was not possible depending upon the answers. With this feature one can show limited number of questions on first page and depending upon the answer to a question (which may be placed anywhere on the page) the respondent is sent to a page which is relevant to his/her response. On next page also same type of question may be asked.

Although the respondent is not completing all the pages it is possible to write mandatory questions on any and all pages because the questions are mandatory only for the respondent for whom the page opens depending upon his previous response.

Suppose the respondent has made the earlier choice by mistake and realises this on subsequent page he/she can press the back button to go to the previous pages and change the response.

You can read about this on Google Docs Blog. The instructions to use the new feature  are here.
